Abstract
A federal judge has said that the U.S. government needs to do more to improve the habitat of endangered salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River Basin. Last week's decision by U.S. District Judge James A. Redden refocuses attention on what scientists have learned about the likely impact of taking more drastic measures, including removing dams and increasing spill rates.
