Abstract
    The concentration of Hg has been measured in 6 spp of molluscs: Mytilus edulis, Cardium edule, Cyprina icelandica, Mya arenaria, Modiolus modiolus, Buccinum undatum; in 4 spp of crustaceans: Carcinus maenus, Pandalus borealis, Crangon crangon, Pasiphea multidentata; and 4 spp of fish: Clupea harengus, Sprattus sprattus, Platichthys flesus, Gadus morhua from the Oslofjord. The levels of Hg ranged from 0.29 to 0.84 mu g/g d.w. for molluscs, 0.31 to 0.39 mu g/g d.w. for crustaceans, and 0.14 to 0.71 mu g/g d.w. for fishes. One sp, M. edulis, was used to study the geographical variation of Hg within the fjord. There appeared to be a higher conc of Hg in the outer fjord. Analyses of various tissues in M. edulis revealed the highest Hg concs in the gills. The mean value of Hg in all the spp studied, however, was low compared with results from other areas.
