Abstract
    Samples from the top-layer of some selected trip-cores from the Zaïre estuary and fan were analysed for their clay mineral composition. The main feature to be distinguished is a pronounced seaward decrease in the relative percentage of kaolinite and a simultaneous increase in smectite.
