Abstract:
Het laboratorium G-Time (Geochemistry: Tracing with Isotopes, Minerals and Elements) van de Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) ontstond uit de onderzoeksgroep ‘Isotopes: Pétrologie et Environnement’ en werd opgericht in 2001. Deze groep doet met behulp van isotopische metingen onderzoek naar biogeochemische cycli, magmatische en sedimentaire petrologie, paleomilieureconstructies en de vergelijking en isotopische karakterisatie van standaard referentiemateriaal tussen laboratoria. Hierbij heeft de groep zich gespecialiseerd in niet-traditionele stabiele isotopen zoals Fe, Zn, Cu, Cd, etc.

Het laboratorium werkt samen met andere laboratoria van de ULB, Université Catholique de Louvain, Université de Liège, Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika en het Koninklijk Belgisch Instituut voor Natuurwetenschappen. Internationaal wordt intensief samengewerkt met instituten uit Frankrijk (Toulouse, Grenoble, Lille), Nederland (Nederlands Instituut voor Zeeonderzoek), Verenigd Koninkrijk (Oxford), Canada (PCIGR), Portugal, etc.
